Challenge

How to foster trust through public infrastructure?

Context of the challenge

Socio-cultural trends indicate a diminishing trust in various aspects of life. Understanding that no group of people can function sanely and effectively without reaching a certain trust threshold the challenging circumstances revealed themselves. There was a need to foster trust, especially between governing bodies and populus. At the same time integrating the new Bauhaus direction, youth activation, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlook. Not only to focus on one aspect of the challenge but also to transform it into an impact cities are seeking for. These actions took place in four European cities through the innovative model of living labs.

Empowering youth

Youth participation tends to be passive, primarily due to diminishing trust and a lack of practical initiatives that facilitate meaningful dialogues in local governance and infrastructure creation. Revealing best practices for empowerment serves the purpose of being community-oriented places.
